2021 - 2022

Thanks to all our volunteers from 2021 and 2022 for the hard work that led to the completion of over 900 linear feet of wall repair!

2020: The first year

As one of the stone wall pilot programs, Norman Bird Sanctuary was identified as an ideal site to continue the volunteer program in fall 2020. With over 325 acres of diverse habitats, trails, and stone walls, this historic site has been attracting visitors for over 70 years. Following a similar model as Glen Farm, Robert Faraone trained a second group of volunteers over two days. Volunteers spent seven weeks working on a stretch of stone walls in an open field along the Quarry Trail, with oceanic views as a backdrop. Much like Glen Farm, these walls were in serious disrepair after years of exposure to the elements and surrounding vegetation. Approximately 300 feet of wall was repaired over the course of the seven-week work program, creating a transformative visual experience along the trail.
