Pilot Sites

The Aquidneck Stone Wall Initiative completed its pilot phase in 2018/2019. With seed funding from the van Beuren Charitable Foundation, we worked with two sites, Simmons Farm and the Norman Bird Sanctuary, to explore the feasibility of repairing stone walls across the island on an ongoing basis. These two pilot sites were selected with input from an advisory group made up of local residents and professionals in the field. We chose these sites based on their visibility, need, and historical significance to Aquidneck Island.
